Carbon now carries a price for many Indian companies. At home, India's Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, 2023 (CCTS) sets greenhouse gas emission intensity targets for energy-intensive industries, with tradable carbon credit certificates for those that beat them. Abroad, the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has put a carbon price on imports of goods such as steel, aluminium, cement and fertilisers since 1 January 2026. The two are different instruments – one a domestic trading scheme, the other an EU border measure – but both run on accurate, verified emissions data.
VPA India helps companies understand their exposure, meet their obligations and turn good emissions data into a commercial advantage.
CCTS (compliance entity) – for obligated entities with greenhouse gas emission intensity targets under the CCTS.
CBAM – for Indian exporters of CBAM goods to the EU, and the data their EU customers need.
The same plant-level measurements of fuels, materials, production and electricity support CCTS compliance, CBAM data for EU customers, your BRSR and your corporate GHG inventory. We set them up once, so that each use draws on the same checked figures.
Obligated entities under the CCTS compliance mechanism; units in sectors with draft targets; producers and exporters of cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers and hydrogen selling to the EU; and EU importers looking for reliable data from Indian suppliers.
With a short screening: which of your units and products are covered, what data you already hold and which deadlines apply. From there we agree a plan for monitoring, verification and reporting.
