Ø Carbon credits project list:

Ø The nature based-solution and natural climate solution projects.

(A) Carbon credits projects under implementation stage:

Project number:          01

Program name:            Emission Reductions Program and Food Security Program.

Project name:               Emission Reductions Program in Uige, Malange and Moxico province.

Country:                          Republic of Angola.

Program Goal:              The Emission Reduction Program aims at implementing the country’s green development vision at scale by providing alternatives to deforestation and rewarding performance to address the challenges of climate change, poverty reduction, natural resource management and protection of biodiversity, sustainable development and food security program.

Jurisdiction:                   Whole jurisdiction of Malange, Uige and Moxico states.

Total Area:                      23.2 million ha

Forest Area:                   21,753,883 ha (93.7%)

Duration:                         The program has a long-term perspective of 25 years with an ER-PA period.

Baseline emissions:  21.92 million tCO2e/year.

CO2e Reductions:      12.83 million tCO2e/year estimated.

Budget:                           USD 114 million up-front investment and a potential of carbon revenue for 12.83 million tCO2e a year.

Revenue:                        An estimated revenue at price of $ 8.25 to be $ 105.84 million/year.

Objective:

This program aims at implementing ER+ as model for sustainable development in the program area, which covers 23,131,011 ha, 21,753,883 hectares of which are forests. With the ER- Program area representing 52% of the national forest area, it is ambitious and will be among the first in Africa to test REDD+ at large scale. The objective of the program is to reduce 12.83 million tCO2e/year, enhance sustainable landscape management, improve and diversify local livelihoods, and conserve biodiversity.

Expected results:

Project’s expected climate, community and biodiversity benefits are following.

The project aims to produce sustainable Reforestation and contribute to carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation, while ensuring environmental conservation, community development and poverty alleviation in rural areas of Angola.

1. The plantation activities will contribute to achieve all these benefits through:

• Contribute for carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation.

• Change land use in current degraded areas and ensure conservation of ecosystem services (e.g. soil fertility, erosion control);

• Generate employment opportunities that will diversify the income generating option for the families and contribute for the socio-economic development of the project areas. Furthermore, percentage of the revenues from carbon credits sales will be directed to the local communities as an additional contribution for social development in those areas.

2. Through the implementation of the Community development programs/initiatives (agriculture, health, education, income generation, etc.) the project will contribute mainly for the social development of the project area. Specifically, the impacts from these initiatives include, among others, the following:

• Development of a sustainable settled agriculture that will reduce the environmental degradation while contributing for income generation

• Improvement in the community’s livelihood through alternative income generating activities from allocation of community funds (e.g. acquisition of mills)

• Establishment of socio-economic infrastructures (e.g. roads, schools, health facilities) that will improve the community wellbeing
